Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy is the place to be if your kids love to sing, act or dance. Try out their acting skills in one of their musical theater classes, or form their own singing quartet! Need a few vocal lessons before their school talent show or help with their stage presence? You can do it ALL at TBPAA!
We have few different camps to choose from:
Musical Theater Camp - teaches the art of acting through practical experience. Campers learn how to audition, what it means to be a character and how to portray that character through dialog, body language, and song. Basic vocal technique and dance are also included. Camp ends with a full musical theater production of Disney's Decendents The Musical with full costumes, makeup and a show website with actors photos and a program featuring each actor. The shows will be the July 24th and 25th. A cast and crew party will be held on the last Friday (July 25th) after lunch. Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films! This camp is especially designed for actors with 2+ years of musical theater experience. This is not a KIDS or JR production, thus the pace of learning will be faster, the choreography more difficult, and vocals with more range. Ideal for those wanting to expand upon their previous experiences.
$25 material required for this camp. It includes a headshot for webpage and program and script book.
Performance Camp - L. Frank Baum’s classic novel comes to life in The Wizard of Oz. This faithful adaptation features all the most beloved songs and moments from the 1939 classic film, brought to life onstage. Young Dorothy Gale is swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. There, she encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk, scarecrows that walk, and things magical to behold. To find her way home, she must journey along the Yellow Brick Road to see the mysterious and all-powerful Wizard in Emerald City. Along the way, she makes new friends, but must also brave many dangers, including the Wicked Witch of the West, who will stop at nothing to get her hands on Dorothy’s magical ruby slippers. To make it home safely, Dorothy must learn an important lesson: there’s no place like home.
Campers stay on Friday until show time at 6PM. There will be a cast pizza party between 3-5pm.
Production Camp - Do you want to build a snowman? Designed for elementary school students, Frozen KIDS is a 30-minute adaptation of the 2018 Broadway musical, which was based on the 2013 Walt Disney Animation Studios film, written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. The production features all of the songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by the creators of the film score, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and EGOT-winner Robert Lopez.
