This April, the City of Largo invites the community to celebrate Earth and Arbor Day by supporting a cleaner, greener, and more resilient future. Native trees are vital in Largo’s Sustainability and Resilience Action Plan by helping reduce stormwater runoff, cooling neighborhoods, and supporting wildlife and pollinators.
Free Tree Giveaway
Join the City of Largo for a tree-mendous Arbor Day celebration at McGough Nature Park on Saturday, April 25 from 8am-12pm. Residents can receive a free native tree (first come, first served), explore nature trails, and meet the park’s animal ambassadors. Learn how to plant and care for your tree to ensure it thrives for years to come.
Why Native Trees Matter
Native trees like the sand live oak, Southern magnolia, and bald cypress are adapted to Florida’s climate and are more resistant to storm impacts. They support pollinators, improve air quality, and can lower temperatures by up to 25°F under their canopy. Learn more from the University of Florida's Native Tree Guide.
